MONDAY, DECEMBER 16th - Students reviewed for this week's final

Week 17 (December 9th to December 13th)

 MONDAY, DECEMBER 9th - Students were given a new packet, "The Reconstruction Era," and completed page 1

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10th - Chapter 22 continued pages 2-3

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11th - Finish Chapter 22

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12th -  No 8th grade classes

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13TH - Pre-test (practice) for next week's final

Week 16 (December 2nd to December 6th)

 MONDAY, DECEMBER 2nd - Students were given a mini-packet on the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3rd - Students were given a list of names of people that were connected to the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln and then explored those connections.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4th - Students finished exploring the connections of people connected to the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln and then started creating a newspaper describing the events surrounding the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5th - NO 8TH GRADE CLASSES

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6TH - Quiz on the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln and then students will finish their newspapers.

Week 15 (November 18th to November 22nd)

 MONDAY,  NOVEMBER 18th - Raising of Hunley and the iron clads of the Civil War, and then students are finishing their notes Chapter 21 - The Civil War

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 19th - Civil War battles/events continued

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20th -  Students finished watching videos on the Civil War and then create a study guide and mini-book of The Civil War

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21st - NO 8TH grade students - BLOCK schedule 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd - Test on Civil War 

Week 14 (November 11th to November 15th)

 MONDAY,  NOVEMBER 11th - Veteran's Day - NO School

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12th - Students investigated the history of Veteran's Day, the meaning and significance behind the 11th month, of the 11th day, at the 11th hour.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13th - Students explored the story of the C.S.S Hunley, and the impact of the 1st successful submarine attack during war time. 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14th - NO 8TH grade students - BLOCK schedule 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15th - No quiz or test, however, students will complete a cross section project of the C.S.S. Hunley in class.

Week 13 (November 4th to November 8th)

 MONDAY,  NOVEMBER 4th - Students continued studying the Civil War with the main topic of the day focusing on The Battle of Antietam.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5th -  Students investigated the Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th - Students created mini-booklets that stressed the important dates and facts of the Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address.  Students may use their mini-booklets for Friday's quiz on the related topics.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7th - No 8th grade students (block schedule)

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8th - Quiz on Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address.

Week 12 (October 28th to November 1st)

 MONDAY, OCTOBER 28th - Students had a "maintenance day," in which all work was returned, new work graded, students were able to check their grades and inquire with their teacher on any missing assignments.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29th - Students investigated the official start of the Civil War, and the 1st major battle - The Battle of Bull Run/Manassas 

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30th - Students created a poster/project of 11 famous women during the Civil War and their contributions to the war.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31st - NO 8th grade students

Week 11 (October 21st to October 25th)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 21st - Students received their new packet, "Chapter 21 The Civil War," and completed the 1st page.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd - Students investigated the Strengths and Weaknesses of the North and South during the Civil War

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23rd - Students completed their investigation of the Strengths and Weaknesses, then participated in a Monster Game review for Friday's quiz.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24th - No 8th Grade classes.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th - Quiz on the Strengths and Weaknesses of the North and South

Week 10 (October 14th to October 18th)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 14th - Students reviewed the main events that led up to the Civil War including: The Constitution, Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, Uncle Tom's Cabin, the Wilmot Proviso, The Dred Scott decision and more.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15th - Students started creating a, "Ranking of the major events leading to the Civil War," project poster.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16th - Students finished their "Ranking Poster," then completed their Chapter 20 packet, then their participated in a "ranking activity," and then finished with a Monster Game review.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17th - No 8th grade students

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18th - Test on the major events leading to the Civil War.  Please study your projects to prepare for the test

Week 9 (October 7th to October 11th)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 7th - Students did a complete grade check, and turned in any missing assignments

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8th - Students received their new packet, "Chapter 20 - A Dividing Nation."

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9th - College Day Activities - No history curriculum

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10th - NO 8th grade classes

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11th - "Chapter 20 - A Dividing Nation," continued.

Week 8 (September 30th to October 4th)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th - Students checked their grades, turned in any missing assignments, and then were issued a new map, "The United States during the Civil War Years 1861-1865)

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST - Students received their second map activity, "Geography Challenge from pages 356-357." 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th - Students completed their third activity map, "The Missouri Compromise." Then they participated in the Monster Game revie w for their test on Friday.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th - No 8th Grade Students

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th - Test on which states where part of the Union, Confederacy, or were border states during the Civil War.

Week 7 (September 23rd to September 27th)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd - Students checked their grades, turned in any missing assignments, and then were issued their new packet, "Chapter 19  African Americans in the mid-1800s"

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24th - Students completed a placard activity within their packets. Notes are posted on Google Classroom for any students that were absent.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th - Students will complete their notes for Chapter 19 and then participate in the Monster Game review.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th - No 8th Grade Students

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th - Test on Chapter 19

Week 6 (September 16th to September 20th)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th- Completed work was returned, and students were given the opportunity to check their grades and turn in any missing assignments. Then students started taking notes in their new packet, "Chapter 18 - The Worlds of North and South."

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th - Students finished their notes for Chapter 18 and then started their Reading Further for the the chapter

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th - Students will participate in a activity that resembles the railroads of the North and South.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th - No 8th grade classes

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th - Quiz on Chapter 18

Week 5 (September 9th to September 13th)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th- Completed work was returned, and students were given the opportunity to check their grades and turn in any missing assignments.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th - Students received their new packet for the week, "Chapter 17 - An Era of Reform," and completed sections 1 and 2.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th - Students will complete their Chapter 17 packet and review for Friday's quiz on Chapter 17.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th - No 8th grade classes

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th - Quiz on the reformers from Chapter 17 - Match the reformer with their area of concern

Week 4 (September 3rd to September 6th )

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND-  NO SCHOOL LABOR DAY

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD - Students started the Geography Challenge page 299 (additional notes posted on Google Classroom)

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4THStudents continued and finished the Geography Challenge on page 299, then completed the major rivers of the U.S. map, and then competed in the Monster Game as a review for Friday's Quiz

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH - No 8th grade classes. Please check Google Classroom for notes and answer keys on any of the material you may have missed for the week.

1st Day of School - MONDAY, AUGUST 12TH -  Students started the school year in history class by writing significant locations in California that they have visited or heard of such as: amusement parks, national parks, towns and cities.

MONDAY, April 22nd - Students completed a word search and introduction to World War II

TUESDAY, April 23rd - Students cut out and pasted key events of World War II in their chapter 29 packet

WEDNESDAY, April 24th - Students completed a World War II coloring map of the alliances of countries during World War II, then they explored the leaders of World War II

Week 31 (April 15th to April 19th)

MONDAY, April 15th - Students viewed "What Caused the 1929 Stock Market Crash?," and "The New Deal Explained."  Then they completed sections 5 and 6 of their Chapter 28 packet.

TUESDAY, April 16th - Students will complete a supplemental packet on The Great Depression.  If you finish, create flashcards for your vocabulary words for Chapter 28. Remember there is a test this Friday, April 19th on Chapter 28..

WEDNESDAY, April 17th - Students will complete their notes for Chapter 14 and then engage in review activities for Friday's test.

Week 30 (April 8th to April 12th)

MONDAY, April 8th - Students investigated the Solar Eclipse, and the significance of how some events may only happen once in a lifetime.

TUESDAY, April 9th - Students received their new packet, "Chapter 28 - The Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression." Then they completed page 1.

WEDNESDAY, April 10th - Students watched 2 videos on the 1920s, "The Flappers" and "Radio and Movies of the 1920s." Then they completed section 2 of their Chapter 28 packet.

THURSDAY, April 11th - Same as Wednesday

FRIDAY, April 12th - NO Test or Quiz students presented and finalized their logos for their Econ Fair posters

Week 29 (March 18th to March 22nd)

MONDAY, March 18th - Students participated in the ECON FAIR and graded Friday's test.

TUESDAY, March 19th - Students finished their cross section of a WWI vehicle or trench, then reviewed the term Capitalism and how it applies to our economy.

WEDNESDAY, March 20th - Students started working on their businesses (presentation).

THURSDAY, March 21st - Same as Wednesday

FRIDAY, March 22nd - Students will present their businesses.

Week 28 (March 11th to March 15th)

MONDAY, March 11th - Students watched and investigated why the United States entered WWI

TUESDAY, March 12th - Students then watching a series of videos on Google Classroom describing how WWI changed America, and the consequences that were imposed on Germany after the war.

WEDNESDAY, March 13th - Students reviewed the Treaty of Versailles and Wilson's 14 points, then participated in a class review for Friday's test.

THURSDAY, March 14th - Same as Wednesday

FRIDAY, March 15th - Test on Chapter 27 - The United States Becomes a World Power.

Week 27 (March 4th to March 8th)

MONDAY, March 4th  - Students started completing 2 maps based on the alliances prior and during the Great War.

TUESDAY, March 5th - Students finished creating their maps from Monday, and then watched the video, "How Did World War I Start?" After the video, students voted on which country they felt was most responsible for the start of World War I.

Week 26 (February 26th to March 1st)

MONDAY, February 26th  - 8th graders were on a field trip to San Marcos and Palomar College.

TUESDAY, February 27th - Students received their new packet, "Chapter 27

WEDNESDAY, February 28th - Sections 1 - 5

THURSDAY, February 29th - Same as Wednesday. 

FRIDAY, MARCH 1st - Students will work on a poster project describing the reasons why Theodore Roosevelt is on Mt. Rushmore.

Week 25 (February 19th to February 23rd)

MONDAY, February 19th - NO SCHOOL - PRESIDENT'S DAY

TUESDAY, February  20th - Students continued taking notes on last week's packet and finished through section 11.

WEDNESDAY, February 21st - Students watched a series of Progressive Era videos on Google Classroom, then completed their notes for the Chapter 26 packet, and then started a National Park project in which students have to trace the outline of their favorite National Park and then label 5 distinct land features, trails, or locations within the park.

THURSDAY, February 22nd - Same as Wednesday, plus Monster Game review for Friday's test.

FRIDAY, February 23rd - Test on Chapter 26

Week 24 (February 12th to February 16th)

MONDAY, February  12th - Students graded their test from Friday, then received the new packet, "Chapter 26 - The Progressive Era" and completed the Geography Challenge on pages 482 to 483

TUESDAY, February 13th - Students completed their key terms for Chapter 26 and then watch the video "The Granger Movement on Google Classroom and completed sections 2

WEDNESDAY, February 14th - Students completed notes on Sections 3 to 10 with emphasis on Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, Theodore Roosevelt, Robert La Follette, and Mother Jones.  Then students watch videos on how the Panama Canal works and then completed a cross section of the Panama Canal.  There is no school Friday, so students will continue with the same packet next week.

Week 23 (February 5th to February 9th)

MONDAY, February  5th - As a class, we reviewed and graded last week's test, and then passed out the new packet, "Chapter 25 - The Great Wave of Immigration."

TUESDAY, February 6th - Students will watch the reading of "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus and then complete vocabulary terms and Section 2 of their packet. To view the video please go to Google Classroom. After viewing the videos, students will engage in direct instruction and discuss the journey of immigrants to Ellis Island and Angel Island.

Week 22 (January 29th to February 2nd)

MONDAY, JANUARY 29th - As a class, we reviewed and graded last week's test.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 30th - Students continued working through page 2 of their weekly packet.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31ST -

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST - Same as Wednesday


Week 21 (January 22nd to January 26th)

MONDAY, JANUARY 22nd - Students received their new packet titled, "Chapter 23 - Tensions in the West," and completed the Geography Challenge on pages 420 and 421.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 23rd - As a class, we reviewed the Geography Challenge results then students completed their Key Content Terms and sections 2 & 3.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24th - Students will view a series of videos on "The Homestead Act," "Pacific Railways Act," and the Native Americans Chief Joseph, Sitting Bull, and Crazy Horse. Please go to Google Classroom to view the videos and follow further instructions.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 25th - Same as Wednesday. In addition students will complete their packet, create flashcards for their vocabulary, and then participate in a "Monster Game" review for tomorrow's test.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 26th - Test on Chapter 23

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27th - Students received all completed work, checked their grades on Aeries, and then completed their definitions for the new packet, "Chapter 21 - The Civil War."

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28th - Page 1 of the "Chapter 21 - The Civil War" packet. The Strengths and Weaknesses of the North and South

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29th - Students investigated The Battle of Bull Run, Rose Greenhow, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, and The Gettysburg Address

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30th - Same as Wednesday

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1st - Quiz on the vocabulary words on page 1 and fill in the blanks for The Gettysburg Address

Week 12 into 13 and continued 14th - (October 30th to November 17th)

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13th -  Students are still working out of their Chapter 20 packet because there was NO SCHOOL on Friday.  Students finished their notes for Chapter 5.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th - Students investigation about how , "Slavery Divides Boston" and completed the Reading Further on page 376 in their textbook and the related section in the Chapter 20 packet.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH - Students completed their notes for Chapter 20, then created flashcards for the test on Friday, and lastly they reviewed for the test using www.hellosmart.com

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH - Same as Wednesday

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH - Test on Chapter 20

MONDAY, OCTOBER 30th - Students received their new packet, "Chapter 5 - Toward Independence" which includes the Geography Challenge that starts on page 78.  Students then completed the Geography Challenge.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31ST - Students received all completed work and then reviewed the answers to the Geography Challenge.  After, students then logged onto a Chromebook to check their grades.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST - Students will investigate what Abraham Lincoln meant by, "A house divided against itself cannot stand," and then complete through Section 2 of the Chapter 20 packet.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND - Students will investigate the causes that led to the Civil War. Then students will start creating a poster presentation called, "Ranking the Causes of the Civil War." Instructions will be thoroughly explained in class.  If you miss class, please find a classmate to show you their presentation to help guide you.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD - Students will complete their poster presentation, "Ranking the Causes of the Civil War."

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH - Students presented their "Events leading the Civil War" poster/project and then tallied the results of how students ranked each event.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH - Students today watched the inauguration of Lincoln and his train journey to the White House.  Then students watched the "first shots" of the Civil War and the attack on Fort Sumter.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH - Students will complete their packets

Week 11 - (October 23rd to October 27th)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 23rd - Friday's quiz was reviewed, then students continued working in their Chapter 19 packets through Section 4.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 16th - NO SCHOOL for students - teacher in-service.  

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17TH - Students checked their grades today and completed page 1 of their new packet, "Chapter 19 - African-Americans in the mid-1800s."

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18TH - Students will engage in an "Underground Railroad" activity.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 9th - This week are Parent-Teacher conferences on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Today students receive a supplemental packet titled, "Map Projections" and students completed page 1

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH - Students completed page 2 of "Map Projections"

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11TH - College Day activities and Parent-Teacher conferences

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12TH - Students will complete the "Map Projections" packet

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13TH - Students will complete an activity using a globe (no test or quiz this week)

Week 8 - (October 2nd to October 6th)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 2nd - Students graded last weeks test and then completed the 1st page of this week's packet, "Chapter 18 The Worlds of North and South"

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3rd - Students will work through sections 2 - 4 of this week's packet.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4th - Students completed their packets, created flashcards for a study review, and then participated in a review game for Friday's test.

MONDAY, SEPT 25th - Students reviewed their scores from last Friday's test, and then students received their new packet, "Chapter 17 - An Era of Reform"

WEDNESDAY, SEPT 6th -  Students received all completed work.  Aeries is updated completely.  Students checked their grades in Aeries and then continued and completed the Geography Challenge in this week's packet.

MONDAY, AUGUST 21ST -  All prior work was returned to students today.  Please check Aeries for grade updates.  In addition, students received their 2nd packet of the year.  It has the same title as week 1, however, inside will be a list of baseball, football, and basketball teams.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 22ND - Students will continue working in this week's packet and complete the map associated with the list of MLB teams.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23RD - Students finished completing the 3 maps of popular cities in the United States based on baseball, football, and basketball teams.  Then students participating in a review game for this Friday's quiz on state abbreviations.

(Week 1 - August 14th to 18th)

1st Day of School - MONDAY, AUGUST 14TH -  Students will receive their 1st weekly packet titled, "United States Map." In class we will go over the class syllabus, expectations, and start working on this week's packet.  The theme for the week is, "Do you know your states?" Students will work all week identifying all 50 states.  Note: there are 4 practices quizzes attached to the packet. On Friday, August 18th, there will be a real quiz on identifying all 50 states.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 15TH - Students will cover, "Map Components," "Reading a Map," and continue practice identifying the 50 states. 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16TH - Students will cover, "Royal Castle Floor Plan," "Map Scale," "Latitude and Longitude," and review for Friday's quiz on identifying all 50 states.
